Walmart cuts preorder price for physical version of Metroid Ravenous
Walmart is offering preorders for the physical version of Metroid Ravenous for Nintendo Switch 2 at $59.88 — about $10 less than the stated price of $69.99. As The Verge reports, the game is scheduled for release on January 28, 2027.

Metroid Ravenous will be the first side-scrolling game in the series since Metroid Dread, which was released for Nintendo Switch in 2021. The new game returns the series to a two-dimensional format.

What is known about the game
Nintendo first showed Metroid Ravenous during its Nintendo Direct presentation in September 2026. The trailer featured cinematic scenes, Samus moving through various locations, and battles with regular enemies and bosses.
At the end of Metroid Dread, Samus gains powerful abilities. According to The Verge's description, in Ravenous the heroine will try to break through those preventing her from leaving the planet. Other plot details and new gameplay mechanics have not yet been revealed.
