A 12-year-old schoolboy from Ternopil refused to set fire to a TCC car and went to the police
In Ternopil, a 12-year-old boy received a message on Telegram offering him money to set fire to a car belonging to the regional recruitment center. The unknown individuals promised the schoolboy 20,000 hryvnias for carrying out this “task,” calling it a supposed “test assignment.”
The minor did not fall for the offer and immediately reported it to law enforcement. Thanks to his responsible response, the police were promptly informed of the attempt to involve a child in illegal activity.
On July 10, the boy approached the school counselor. He showed the law enforcement officer suspicious messages on Telegram. In the messages, a stranger who introduced himself as “Andrei” and wrote in Russian offered the boy a partnership.
The boy’s first task was to set fire to a TCC vehicle. The perpetrator promised 20,000 UAH for this. The stranger added that after a successful test task, they would be able to continue their collaboration.
The student blocked the user and immediately reported everything to a police officer. The police forwarded the case materials to the Security Service of Ukraine office in the Ternopil region.
Law enforcement officials are urging parents to talk to their children about the dangers of recruitment via social media and messaging apps. Students are reminded that even during school breaks, they can contact school inspectors to report suspicious messages.

This was reported by the Ternopil Regional Police on Wednesday.
