Oleg Skrypka's 21-year-old son explained why he was discharged from military service
The eldest son of Oleg Skrypka, leader of the band “Vopli Vidoplyasova,” 21-year-old Roman Skrypka, responded to online criticism regarding his discharge from military service. Users on Threads began questioning whether it was legal for him to leave military service, prompting him to address their concerns. Roman had previously carried out combat missions, but he is no longer serving. According to him, he has a legal basis for his demobilization.
“I am that ‘son of Skrypka’ who was mobilized, served in a combat brigade, and carried out combat missions directly. I have now been demobilized and have a legal basis for deferment… Meanwhile, Denis, the draft dodger from America, fortunately knows better than anyone how service in the Armed Forces of Ukraine works and is only looking to cash in on the publicity,” he commented on a post by one of the commenters.
It has come to light that the young man is only 21 years old, and he served in the Armed Forces of Ukraine under the terms of the so-called voluntary “18–24 contract,” intended for citizens under the age of 25. Upon the contract’s expiration, Roman was demobilized.
“The contract ends before I turn 25. I’m entitled to a deferment,” he wrote.
