Five more children have been returned to Ukraine from the temporarily occupied Kherson region
Five more children from the temporarily occupied territory of the Kherson region have been returned to territory controlled by Ukraine.
“Five more children from the temporarily occupied part of the Kherson region have returned to territory controlled by Ukraine. They are three boys and two girls aged 10 to 17,” the statement reads.
According to Prokudin, among those rescued are two teenagers, aged 17 and 14, who endured constant pressure, threats, and propaganda from the Russian invaders.
“The 17-year-old boy was forced to attend a school run by the occupying forces due to threats against his family. Armed Russian soldiers regularly broke into the house, conducted searches, and checked phones and electronic devices. At age 16, he was forced to sign a draft notice from the military registration and enlistment office,” he added.
The head of the Regional State Administration also noted that the family of a 14-year-old boy was threatened that he would be taken to an orphanage if he did not attend a Russian school.
“There, the teenager was exposed to Russian propaganda every day, and Russian soldiers were encouraging the children to become combat drone operators,” Prokudin emphasized.
Now, according to him, all five children are safe and are undergoing reintegration at the “Hope and Recovery” centers, where they receive psychological support, assistance with paperwork, and the necessary care.
The return took place as part of the presidential initiative “Bring Kids Back UA” with the assistance of the charity Save Ukraine.
It is noted that since the beginning of 2026, 190 children have already been returned from the temporarily occupied part of the Kherson region.
