25 years in the criminal world: Vasyl Nemesh, a native of Zakarpattia, has become the main suspect in the case of the brutal murder of a Ukrainian man in Bali
Vasyl Nemesh, a resident of Zakarpattia, has been placed on an international wanted list on suspicion of a brutal murder in Bali.

Interpol has issued a “Red Notice” for five suspects in the kidnapping and murder of Ukrainian Ihor Komarov on the Indonesian island of Bali. Among those wanted are three Ukrainian citizens, including Vasyl Nemesh, a native of Transcarpathia, whose criminal record spans over 20 years of robberies, thefts, and violence.

High-profile murder in Bali
International police have officially identified the men accused of kidnapping, torturing, and intentionally murdering Ukrainian Ihor Komarov. At the end of February, the remains of his dismembered body were discovered in Bali. Before his death, the victim managed to report that he had been kidnapped and that a ransom of $10 million was being demanded. Most of the suspects had already fled Indonesia, leading to their placement on an international wanted list.

In addition to 42-year-old Vasyl Nemesh, the following individuals were added to the “red notice” list: 34-year-old Ukrainian Denys Halushko; 28-year-old Ukrainian Roman Melnyk; 29-year-old Russian Nikolai Petrik; and 27-year-old Kazakhstani Vladislav Akhanov.
The path of a repeat offender: Nemesh’s “track record”
Vasyl Nemesh was born in Zakarpattia (the village of Uhlya), but spent most of his life in the city of Dnipro. It was there that he began and concentrated a significant portion of his illegal “activities.”
According to the Telegram channel Yama in the OP, Vasyl Nemesh is an experienced repeat offender whose criminal record began to fill up as early as the early 2000s.

In particular, sources point to his systematic ties to groups in occupied Crimea. His criminal record is staggering. He faced his first charges for theft (Article 185 of the Criminal Code) as early as 2001–2002. In 2005, Nemesh was a defendant in a rape case. Five years later, in 2010, proceedings were initiated against him under the articles “Robbery” and “Extortion” as part of a criminal group (Part 1, Article 187 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine; Part 3, Article 189 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

In 2014, while in Russia, Nemesh participated in a group robbery alongside criminal boss Vladimir Shchegolkov, known by the nickname “Ariets.”

In 2016, an occupation court in Sevastopol sentenced Nemesh to 8 years and 6 months of strict regime imprisonment for another armed robbery. The repeat offender was released only recently—approximately between 2022 and 2024. Instead of rehabilitation, he likely joined an international criminal group that organized the hunt for Igor Komarov in Indonesia.
Currently, the “red notice” status means that Vasyl Nemesh and his accomplices can be arrested in any country in the world that cooperates with Interpol. Ukrainian law enforcement and their international colleagues are urging anyone with information on the whereabouts of these individuals to immediately contact the police.
As a reminder, the story of 28-year-old Ukrainian citizen Igor Komarov began as a luxurious vacation on an exotic island and ended with a horrific discovery on the east coast of Bali. In mid-February, the man was abducted; later, local residents discovered his dismembered remains. This incident shocked not only the Indonesian police but also the international community, revealing the brutal reality of criminal conflicts on the “paradise island.”

According to official investigation data, Komarov’s abduction took place on Sunday, February 15. Law enforcement was officially notified of the incident that same day. However, the situation reached a critical point on February 21, when a video surfaced online in which the Ukrainian man reported the kidnappers’ demand—a $10 million ransom. The footage clearly showed signs of brutal torture on his body. As local police spokesperson Ariy Sendi later reported, Komarov was killed shortly after this video was recorded.

There is speculation that it was the smartphone in the hands of 23-year-old blogger Eva Mishalova—who was vacationing in Bali with Komarov—that served as a beacon for the killers.

The influencer diligently documented every moment of her vacation in social media posts and had no idea that she was not just live-streaming a luxurious lifestyle, but providing a detailed guide for those hunting for the head of her lover, 28-year-old Igor Komarov.
