The lawyer for Faryon, who is accused of murder, claims she is working pro bono

Lawyer Larisa Kryvoruchko, who represents Vyacheslav Zinchenko—the man accused of murdering linguist Iryna Farion—has officially announced that she is handling the case pro bono. She described her work as an application of the “pro bono” legal principle in accordance with current Ukrainian law, in order to avoid any manipulation of information in the media.

This was reported by Suspilne.

During the latest court proceedings, the defense requested additional time to review the full scope of the evidence due to the delayed receipt of a two-terabyte data disk containing materials from the prosecution. Larysa Kryvoruchko also raised objections regarding procedural violations at the January court hearing, where Zinchenko’s pretrial detention was extended with the participation of another defense attorney whose license had been suspended. Representatives of the prosecution denied the allegations of delay, noting that all available materials were promptly sent to the attorney after her motion was officially registered.

Currently, the defendant, Vyacheslav Zinchenko, has been brought into the courtroom under the escort of soldiers from the National Guard of Ukraine, and among those directly involved in the proceedings are the victim, Sofia Osoba, and prosecutor Olena Daniliv. The next hearing in this high-profile case, taking into account the new motions and circumstances, has been scheduled for June 15.

The defense attorney for suspect Vyacheslav Zinchenko in the case of the murder of Iryna Farion attempted to build a defense strategy by drawing attention to the victim’s political past. This approach sparked public outcry and a new wave of debate surrounding the case.

Earlier, the defense team for the man accused of murdering Farion was denied a motion to recuse the panel of judges.
