A Russian GRU agent was sentenced to 15 years in prison for plotting to blow up a gas pipeline in eastern Ukraine
A court sentenced a Russian military intelligence agent to 15 years in prison and ordered the forfeiture of his property. The agent had been planning to blow up a main gas pipeline and gathering intelligence on the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

According to the investigation, the unemployed Kharkiv resident, recruited by Russian intelligence, was supposed to plant a homemade explosive device near a key section of the gas pipeline that supplies heat to the Kharkiv and Poltava regions.
The security service stated that the man was detained in November 2025, after he had already prepared the explosives and was about to carry out the planned attack.
Additionally, according to the investigation, the agent was gathering information on the locations and movements of Ukrainian military personnel in Kharkiv and near the front lines.
The court found him guilty of treason, preparing a terrorist attack, and the illegal manufacture and storage of explosive devices.
An official from the Territorial Defense Center was detained in the Kyiv region for extorting a bribe.
