A four-meter sinkhole opened up beneath a child in Odessa – photo
In Odesa, a child suddenly fell through a sidewalk slab while out for a walk, finding herself trapped in a deep hole. Passersby who witnessed the incident did not dare to rescue the girl themselves due to the high risk of further ground collapse.
This was reported by the State Emergency Service.
Thanks to the prompt actions of the rescuers, the child was successfully brought to the surface using special equipment. While the rescue operation was underway, eyewitnesses and the girl’s father maintained constant contact with her to prevent panic. After the evacuation, the victim was handed over to medical personnel for a thorough examination.
Currently, the girl’s life and health are not in danger. Experts are investigating the causes of the ground subsidence and the collapse of the pavement in the pedestrian zone. Municipal services are to inspect the surrounding area to prevent similar incidents in the future.
In Kyiv’s Obolon district, a woman fell into a sinkhole on the road that formed as a result of a burst pipeline.
