The Court of Appeals upheld the life sentence handed down to a Kherson-based informant for the Russian Federation
The Kherson Court of Appeals upheld the legality of the sentence handed down to a 39-year-old resident of Kherson who was convicted of treason.
The court agreed with the lower court’s decision and upheld the life sentence for the defendant, who had worked on behalf of Russian forces.
"Prosecutors from the Kherson Regional Prosecutor’s Office proved in the appellate court the legality of the sentence handed down to a 39-year-old resident of Kherson convicted of treason. The trial court sentenced her to life imprisonment with confiscation of property for passing information about Ukrainian military personnel to the enemy," according to a statement on the prosecutor’s office’s Telegram channel.
The defense attempted to appeal the decision and seek a lighter sentence, but prosecutors demonstrated that there were no grounds for doing so.
"It has been established that in 2023, the woman used Telegram to transmit geolocation data, photos, and videos of the locations of Ukrainian military personnel and equipment to Russian handlers. The information was used to adjust enemy shelling," prosecutors said.
The Kherson Court of Appeals dismissed the appeals and upheld the sentence.
