Budanov: Ukraine must be the architect of global processes, not a pawn on someone else’s chessboard
Kirill Budanov, Head of the Main Intelligence Directorate, addressed students at the School of Strategic Architecture at the Kyiv-Mohyla Business School.
According to him, the lecture covered the geopolitical processes shaping the modern world order, as well as the factors on which the survival and development of states in the 21st century depend.
Budanov emphasized that Ukraine must build its own agency and influence, since in world politics, those who set the rules—not merely those who follow them—prevail. He also noted that modern geopolitics is determined not only by military strength but also by the economic, technological, informational, demographic, and spiritual potential of states.
Separately, he underscored the importance of long-term strategic thinking, the ability to anticipate events several steps ahead, and the need to avoid emotional decisions.
