Will Ukraine have enough funds without EU aid? Zelenskyy responds
The release of a multibillion-dollar loan from the European Union to Ukraine remains in doubt, despite the Ukrainian government’s cautious optimism.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy made this statement during a conversation with journalists.
According to the head of state, there is currently uncertainty regarding the timing of the funds’ arrival and possible delays in financial and military aid. He emphasized that he had raised the issue of alternative scenarios with EU leaders in case support is delayed.
“What will be our Plan B if key aid packages are delayed or reduced? For how long does Ukraine have funding for critical expenditures—the army and social payments?” the president noted.
At the same time, Zelenskyy emphasized that he remains optimistic following a series of talks with European partners. According to him, the EU is seeking mechanisms to ensure funding for Ukraine even in the face of political or bureaucratic difficulties.
The president also noted that Ukraine expects to receive the first tranche of the loan as early as April 2026.
