British diplomats will remain in Ukraine despite the heavy shelling of Kyiv
Following yet another large-scale attack by the Russian Federation on the Ukrainian capital, British Ambassador to Ukraine Neil Crompton firmly stated that this attack would in no way alter the plans or presence of the British diplomatic mission in Kyiv.
The British diplomat highlighted the extreme brutality of the nighttime airstrike on June 2, during which Russia fired over 70 missiles of various types and approximately 650 attack drones at Ukrainian cities. He noted that the number of casualties from these attacks continues to rise, and over 100 civilians have been injured to varying degrees. Despite the high security risks, Neil Crompton emphasized that the British team remains on the ground to continue its active work and provide comprehensive assistance to Ukrainian partners.
British Defense Secretary John Healey also responded promptly to this latest act of Russian aggression, calling the scale of the nighttime strikes on civilian infrastructure shocking. The official expressed his deepest condolences to the families of all those killed and injured in the attack. He added that Kremlin leader Vladimir Putin, out of sheer desperation, continues his brutal assault on peaceful cities, as Ukrainian forces are inflicting colossal and irreparable losses on the Russian army on the front lines. The defense secretary emphasized that the United Kingdom will continue to demonstrate unwavering and resolute support for Ukraine in its struggle.
