Diesel at Gas Stations Could Rise to 80 UAH/L This Week — Expert

By the end of this week, the price of diesel fuel at Ukrainian gas stations could increase to around 80 UAH per liter, with potential for further growth up to 90 UAH/L.

This was stated by the director of the consulting company “A-95,” Serhiy Kuyun, during a briefing at the Ukraine Media Center in Kyiv, reports Interfax-Ukraine.

According to him, diesel fuel that started arriving in Ukraine over the weekend is already being sold wholesale at approximately 72 UAH per liter, and at gas stations — around 73 UAH/L.

“Definitely, the price will tend toward 80 UAH/L by the end of the week; after that, we’ll see,” Kuyun noted.

He explained that morning quotations on the European market already correspond to a level of about 80 UAH per liter. Added to this are transportation costs and gas station markups, which could potentially push the price to 90 UAH/L.

At the same time, the expert does not expect diesel prices to reach 100 UAH per liter.

“I honestly don’t believe in 100 UAH/L. Simply because the global economy cannot sustain such prices,” Kuyun said.

He also noted that demand for fuel has recently begun to decline.

Regarding gasoline, according to the expert, the situation is different: the European market currently has a surplus, so there are no grounds for a sharp increase in its price.

It is also noted that oil prices are rising due to escalating tensions between the USA and Iran.
