Latvian Foreign Minister Baiba Braže has arrived in Ukraine for talks
Latvian Foreign Minister Baiba Braže is in Ukraine on a two-day working visit. The main topics of discussion were support for Ukraine in the war with Russia, security policy, and the development of military-industrial cooperation.
“During the visit, the minister will meet with Ukrainian officials to discuss current issues of bilateral cooperation and security policy, Latvia’s ongoing support for Ukraine in its fight against Russian aggression, and other matters,” the Latvian Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated.
On the first day of her visit to Ukraine, Baiba Braže visited Odesa, where she met with the Commander of the Ukrainian Navy, Vice Admiral Oleksiy Neizhpap.
According to the Latvian foreign minister, the parties discussed further support for Ukraine’s defense, the use of Ukrainian defense innovations, and the development of cooperation in the military-industrial sector.
“We discussed ways to support Ukraine’s defense, utilize Ukrainian defense innovations, and strengthen our cooperation in the military-industrial sector,” said Baiba Braže.

On the second day of her visit, August 5, the Latvian foreign minister reported on a meeting in Kyiv with Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiga.
It is expected that during the talks, the parties will discuss further bilateral cooperation, security issues, and Latvia’s continued support for Ukraine.
The Latvian Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported that Baiba Braze’s working visit will take place on August 4–5.
Earlier, Ukraine’s Ambassador to the United Kingdom, Valerii Zaluzhnyi, arrived in Kyiv to attend a meeting of Ukrainian diplomats. On August 3, he stated that key priorities include working to establish peace, strengthening Ukraine’s international leadership, and establishing reliable security guarantees.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy appointed Major General Mykhailo Drapatyi, commander of the Joint Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, as Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, replacing Oleksandr Syrskyi.
The new Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Mykola Drapaty, addressed the Ukrainian people.
Later, Zaluzhny reacted to Drapaty’s appointment as Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
