Farion's daughter announced the reinstatement of her state security detail and reported receiving daily threats
Sofia Osoba, the daughter of linguist Iryna Farion, has reported that she is once again under state protection and continues to receive regular threats on social media.
According to Sofia Osoba, the security detail provided to the family following the murder of Iryna Farion was withdrawn in January 2025, but was later reinstated.
“The protection was withdrawn, then we reinstated it. [...] Now state protection is back. And, accordingly, it’s much safer now. They’re nearby,” she noted.
Sofia Osoba stated that threats arrive almost daily from various accounts. Some of the messages, she said, are sent by pro-Russian users, and some by the so-called “Zinchenko sect.”
“There are constant threats, every day, from various accounts. I understand that some of them are sent by pro-Russian bots. But mostly it’s what they call the Zinchenko sect, which constantly threatens me, accuses me of killing my mother, accuses me of causing some kind of rift, and so on,” she said.
Sofia Osoba also emphasized that threats were sent to Iryna Farion herself while she was still alive. According to her, the linguist filed reports with law enforcement.
“I know my mother also received threats, and she reported them (to law enforcement—ed. ‘Glavkom’) regarding these threats. All of this was under investigation; it was all being looked into. But it led to her murder,” she added.
She spoke about this in an interview with the YouTube channel “DumaI.”
The Qualification and Disciplinary Commission of Lawyers of Vinnytsia Oblast suspended the right to practice law for 42-year-old Kyiv lawyer Larysa Kryvoruchko.
In the Farion case, the court questioned a witness and examined Zinchenko’s phone
In Lviv, the court continuedhearing the case regarding the murder of Faryon.
Earlier, the Shevchenkivskyi District Court of Lviv extended the pretrial detention of Zinchenko, who is accused of murdering Iryna Farion, until March 9, 2026.
A new witness in the Faryon case stated that it was not the defendant Zinchenko who was following her.
As a reminder, the suspect in the Farion murder case claimed in court that his confession was made under duress.
