Rain, thunderstorms, and 23°C in the east — what will the weather be like on May 14?

On May 14, the weather in Ukraine will vary greatly depending on the region. In the east, nearly summer-like temperatures of up to 23 degrees are expected, while the central regions will be significantly cooler. Parts of the country will see rain and thunderstorms, whereas the Right Bank will mostly remain dry, according to meteorologist Natalka Didenko.

On Wednesday, May 14, Ukraine will effectively be divided into two weather zones. The Left Bank regions will be under the influence of atmospheric fronts, so periodic rain and thunderstorms in some areas are forecast there. In contrast, the Right Bank will be under the influence of an anticyclone—it will be dry and calmer there.

According to forecasters, it will be coldest tomorrow in the central part of the country. This refers to a strip stretching from Chernihiv Oblast through Cherkasy and Kropyvnytskyi Oblasts all the way to Mykolaiv Oblast. There, daytime temperatures will rise to only +12…+14 degrees. Meanwhile, residents of the eastern regions will experience a real warming trend. In the Kharkiv, Luhansk, and Donetsk regions, temperatures may reach +20…+23 degrees. The rest of the country is expected to see more moderate spring weather—around +14…+17 degrees.

In Kyiv, it will be around +16 degrees on May 14. No significant precipitation is forecast during the day, but rain is possible toward evening.

Forecasters advise Ukrainians not to put away their umbrellas and raincoats just yet. Due to temperature fluctuations and changes in atmospheric pressure, some people may experience fatigue or headaches. “Periodic rain is expected on the Left Bank, with thunderstorms in some areas, while the Right Bank will remain mostly dry,” said meteorologist Natalka Didenko.

Experts also advise planning trips and walks more carefully, especially in regions where thunderstorms and unstable weather are forecast.
