Former officials of the Ivano-Frankivsk Regional Prosecutor's Office will stand trial for a $100,000 bribe

The former head and an official of the Ivano-Frankivsk Regional Prosecutor’s Office will stand trial on charges of extorting $100,000. In exchange for this money, they promised to rule in favor of employees of a state-owned enterprise and a private company.

Additionally, according to the investigation, the money was intended to ensure the closure of criminal proceedings and help individuals suspected of embezzling state-owned enterprise assets avoid prosecution.

Furthermore, they established a kickback scheme involving a company engaged in road construction in the region. In exchange for 3% of the contract value, the officials promised to turn a blind eye to potential violations during the construction work.

During the pre-trial investigation, the suspects attempted to influence witnesses and tamper with evidence.

This was reported by NABU.

As a reminder, the High Anti-Corruption Court recently convicted a relative of People’s Deputy Goncharenko.

The actions and financial status of former Deputy Prosecutor General Dmytro Verbytskyi warrant a thorough investigation by anti-corruption authorities. This opinion was expressed by People’s Deputy Oleksiy Goncharenko, chairman of the Verkhovna Rada’s Temporary Investigative Commission, in an interview with UA.News.

The National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office (SAPO) announced a special operation to expose a criminal organization in which current and former members of the Verkhovna Rada, high-ranking officials of the Office of the President, and other individuals may be involved.
