Stefanchuk stated that elections are impossible during martial law

Ruslan Stefanchuk, Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada, stated that holding elections in Ukraine at this time is impossible, imprudent, and irresponsible.

According to him, a working group has been operating in parliament for about a year to draft a special law on holding elections.

“Only when the right conditions are in place will elections in Ukraine definitely be held,” Stefanchuk emphasized.

He stressed that elections must be democratic and safe for citizens and candidates.

Former Ukrainian Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov called for holding presidential elections amid the war. In a nine-minute video address released Tuesday evening, he stated the need to restore a full-fledged democratic process even amid a protracted war, according to The Guardian World.

Russia is already preparing to interfere in the upcoming elections in Moldova by stepping up disinformation campaigns and attempts to influence public opinion.
