Serhiy Chyzh, the former head of the Main Directorate of the National Police in Sumy Oblast, was found dead in the city of Karlivka. According to preliminary reports, the law enforcement officer died from a gunshot wound inflicted by his service weapon.
Serhiy Chyzh’s body was discovered at his residence. The circumstances of his death are currently under investigation.
Serhiy Chyzh had headed the Main Directorate of the National Police in Sumy Oblast since 2021. Prior to his appointment to this position, he served as deputy chief of the Main Directorate of the National Police in Kharkiv Oblast.
Law enforcement agencies are working to establish all the details of the incident and the cause of the former police chief’s death.
