Former Supreme Court Justice Gave Apartment to Son Before Being Investigated by NABU

Former Supreme Court Justice Oleksandr Prokopenko transferred property to his son before being charged with bribery. On May 16, he gifted an apartment and a parking space to his son, Bohdan Prokopenko, who is a detective with the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU). The former judge was served with the charges on May 19.

This was reported with reference to attorney Tetiana Kozachenko.

According to Prokopenko’s son’s declaration, the 127-square-meter apartment in Kyiv and the parking space, valued at 1.6 million hryvnias, were transferred from father to son—the detective—on Saturday, May 16. And on Tuesday, May 19, NABU served Prokopenko and three other sitting Supreme Court judges with notices of suspicion in the Knyazev case. The judges in question are Igor Zhelezny, Irina Grigorieva, and Zhanna Yelenina.

As is known, on September 24, 2024, the High Council of Justice granted the request for retirement submitted by Oleksandr Prokopenko, a judge of the Administrative Court of Cassation within the Supreme Court.

NABU and SAPO have expanded the circle of suspectsin the corruption case involving the Supreme Court.

As a reminder, officials from the Territorial Recruitment Center in Ivano-Frankivsk face up to 12 years in prison for torture.

In Kharkiv, a scheme for illegally smuggling conscripts abroad was uncovered, involving a TCC employee and a former Berkut officer. According to the investigation, they promised to arrange travel to Slovakia for $18,000.

The SBU detained the head of the Medical Examination Commission in Kropyvnytskyi for selling disability certificates.
