Fedorov returned to Kyiv and announced new projects
Former Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov returned to Kyiv after a trip abroad and spoke about the results of his meetings. He announced plans to establish a large venture capital fund in Ukraine for defense technology and to launch an analytical center that will help forecast the course of the war.
Mykhailo Fedorov reported that he was on a business trip abroad last week. According to him, during the trip he held meetings with representatives of venture capital funds and major technology companies. “I was on a business trip last week. I’m sharing the results and plans for the near future. We’re transforming experience and social capital into breakthrough technologies for our country,” Fedorov wrote.
He cited the mobilization of resources to establish a new venture capital fund in Ukraine as one of the main outcomes. The fund is planned to be launched in Kyiv. It will focus on defense technologies and invest in military startups.
Ukraine Plans to Create a Major Defense Tech Fund
Fedorov said that during his trip, he spoke with representatives of the tech industry and investors. In particular, he mentioned the American company Palantir, about which he had previously published information. According to him, these contacts helped secure funding for the new project. “I published information about Palantir, and we managed to secure funding that will allow us to create the largest venture capital fund in the defense tech sector in Ukraine, in Kyiv,” Fedorov stated.
The fund, he said, is not intended to invest solely in new startups. It will also target companies that are already operational and capable of scaling their solutions. “It will invest in defense startups and established companies, seeking solutions to the problems we face today and those we will face tomorrow,” the former minister explained.
Fedorov added that the fund is expected to launch in the near future. They plan to involve not only the founders of technology companies but also experts in the work on the fund. Thus, the idea is to bring together investors, military technology developers, and people with practical experience in a single environment. This should help find solutions to the needs of Ukrainian defense more quickly.
Fedorov also announced the creation of an analytical center
Another area of focus will be the creation of an analytical center. According to Fedorov, its mission will be to analyze the war, study the weaknesses of Russian forces, and, based on the experience gained, predict the enemy’s next moves. “Over the past seven to eight months, we’ve found the key to the Russians: how to identify their vulnerabilities, how to strike them, and how to seize the initiative in the air and on the ground,” Fedorov said.
He emphasized that it is important for the Ukrainian defense sector not merely to react to Russia’s actions. According to him, the goal of the new analytical center is to help predict the enemy’s next moves and prepare solutions in advance. “And the task is to use our experience to predict the next steps in the war and proactively generate solutions in order to seize the initiative,” Fedorov added.
Fedorov did not specify all the details of the upcoming projects, including the fund’s name, its size, or specific launch dates. At the same time, he stated that work on them is already underway. The new initiatives are expected to focus on developing Ukraine’s defense technology sector. This involves attracting investment, supporting military R&D, and leveraging Ukraine’s wartime experience to create new technological solutions. This information comes from his post on Telegram.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that he has not been in contact with former Minister Mykhailo Fedorov recently.
