A fake account belonging to journalist Andriy Kulikov has reappeared on Facebook
A fake Facebook page impersonating journalist and radio host Andriy Kulikov has appeared once again. Using this fake account, cybercriminals are attempting to contact Ukrainian public figures and politicians to obtain their contact information.
According to Kulikov, similar attempts to obtain the private contact information of well-known individuals by impersonating him have occurred in the past. In particular, unknown individuals tried to obtain the phone number of one of Ukraine’s former prime ministers. However, an acquaintance of the journalist acted cautiously and verified the information via a personal messaging app.
Kulikov noted that this is at least the third instance of cloned profiles being created in his name. He emphasized that he does not maintain a Facebook page and has an account only on the social network X.
“I joined the platform back when it was still Twitter, because there you have to write very briefly and concisely, and that makes sense,” the journalist noted.
His colleagues reported the fake account to Facebook’s administration and asked them to block it.
According to Kulikov, during a similar campaign over a year ago, the complaint helped take down the fake account, but so far there has been no response from the moderators regarding the new page.
The journalist reported this to the Institute of Mass Information.
