In the Chernihiv region, 50 mobile shelters will be installed along routes to educational institutions
In six cities in the Chernihiv region, there are plans to install 50 mobile shelters in the near future along the routes students take to school.
Chernihiv Oblast, along with five other frontline regions, is participating in a pilot project to install mobile shelters along students’ routes to school.
“I support this initiative. We plan to install 50 mobile shelters in six cities in the near future. Kyiv Oblast will assist us with the procurement. I thank our neighboring region for its willingness to support Chernihiv Oblast,” said Chaus.
The mobile shelters are planned to be placed in Chernihiv, Semenivka, Novhorod-Siverskyi, Koryukivka, Snovsk, and Horodnia.
The need to strengthen safety for schoolchildren stems from regular Russian attacks on settlements in the region.
According to Chaus, since the beginning of 2026, Russian troops have carried out more than 650 strikes on Chernihiv, Semenivka, Novhorod-Siverskyi, Koryukivka, Snovsk, and Horodnya.
For these attacks, the Russian military used drones, missiles, guided aerial bombs, multiple launch rocket systems, and FPV drones.
“People live in these cities. Children go to school here. And our task is to keep them as safe as possible,” emphasized the head of the Chernihiv Regional State Administration.
This was announced by Vyacheslav Chaus, head of the Chernihiv Regional State Administration, following a meeting of the State Commission on Technological and Environmental Safety and Emergencies, chaired by Mykola Kalashnyk, Minister of Recovery, Infrastructure, and Transport.
The Sumy Oblast has allocated an additional 10 million hryvnias from the regional budget to purchase mobile shelters for Sumy residents.
In the Kyiv region, a large-scale test was conducted to assess the readiness of mobile operators and communities to function during prolonged power outages. The test involved the operators Kyivstar, Vodafone, and lifecell, as well as district administrations and all 69 communities in the region.
