A delegation from the Helsinki Fire and Rescue Department in Finland spent four days learning from Ukrainian rescue workers about their efforts to address the consequences of the war.
During the visit, Finnish experts familiarized themselves with the work of Ukrainian units in Kyiv and studied response practices for the challenges rescuers face daily during Russian attacks.
In particular, the focus was on search and rescue operations in destroyed buildings, the work of bomb disposal experts in combat zones, responses to chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear threats, as well as actions in conditions where there is a risk of repeated strikes.
Special attention was given to the use of robotics, remote systems, and crisis coordination among emergency services.
The delegation also visited the site of a recent Russian missile strike in the Darnytskyi district of Kyiv to observe firsthand the procedures followed by Ukrainian services while addressing the aftermath of the attack.
The President of Finland stated that Europe has not yet decided on its relations with Russia.
