The Prosecutor General's Office has uncovered a scheme involving inflated prices for intensive care medications
Law enforcement officials uncovered a scheme to supply medical drugs to public institutions at inflated prices, which resulted in losses of more than 80.9 million hryvnias to the state and local budgets.
According to the investigation, a group of businesspeople and executives from commercial enterprises purchased medications directly from manufacturers and importers. They then sold the drugs to medical facilities through affiliated companies, exceeding the state-mandated 10 percent supply and distribution markup.
These are medications primarily used in hospitals, particularly in emergency situations, in intensive care units, anesthesiology, and intensive care.
The investigation is also examining the circumstances surrounding the use of affiliated companies to create artificial tax credits and the possible conversion of illegally obtained funds into cash.
Law enforcement officers conducted 16 searches in Kyiv, the Kyiv and Lviv regions, as well as in Dnipro. During the investigative actions, they seized documents, computer equipment, phones, bank cards, seals, electronic media, and funds.
Four company executives and officials were notified of their status as suspects under Part 5 of Article 191 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. One of the suspects was notified in absentia. A motion for pretrial detention was filed with the court regarding three of the suspects.

Earlier, a female officer of the General Staff was detained for accepting a bribe of 14,000 dollars.
