Greece Demands Apology from Ukraine Over Maritime Drone Incident — CNN

Greek Defense Minister Nikos Dendias stated that Ukraine must apologize following an incident involving a maritime drone that was detected off the Greek coast.

According to Dendias, Kyiv must not only apologize but also provide guarantees that such incidents will not happen again.

“It must offer us its deepest apologies. And in addition to an apology, it must provide absolute guarantees that this will not happen again in this region,” the Greek minister said.

Athens noted that the incident posed a serious threat to the safety of navigation in the Mediterranean Sea.

Greek Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Lana Zohiou called the event a “particularly serious incident” and said the country is awaiting the military’s official findings regarding the circumstances of the drone’s appearance.

Once the investigation is complete, Greece will determine its next official steps at the bilateral and international levels.

Greece has stated that the maritime drone near Lefkada is of “Ukrainian origin.”

A conflict is brewing between Ukraine and Greece over maritime drones.
