First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy of Ukraine Yulia Svyrydenko shared the story behind her special vyshyvanka, which was crafted by artisans in a frontline region

On the holiday, the government official called for honoring national traditions that unite society during wartime.

She emphasized that authentic clothing remains an important element of Ukrainian identity and cultural resilience.

The official’s festive outfit has a unique origin, as it was created in one of the most dangerous regions of the country.

The craftswomen worked on the garment under constant threat and regular attacks by Russian occupation forces.

Despite the daily risk to life, local production continues to function and foster Ukrainian culture.

The production of such clothing in a combat zone demonstrates the resilience of local businesses and cultural figures. Yulia Svyrydenko emphasized the personal significance of this shirt to her.

“This embroidered shirt is special to me. It was created at a factory in the Kherson region—one of our frontline regions. It is the work of people who live and work under shelling every day, yet continue to preserve traditions and create Ukrainian culture,” Svyrydenko said.

The ornament on the official’s garment reflects the authentic traditions of Ukraine’s southern region. The design combines specific floral motifs historically characteristic of this particular area.

The color palette and the specific style of the embroidery highlight the richness of the South’s cultural heritage.

All details of the design were selected in accordance with ancient examples of the Kherson style of embroidery. The minister noted that the diversity of regional styles forms a unified and unique Ukrainian culture.

She added that the joint preservation of our heritage is a key factor in our resilience.
