More than 102 million hryvnias will be returned to the state following a review of cases involving road repairs in Zaporizhzhia
More than 102 million hryvnias that a private company received for road construction work in the Zaporizhzhia region will be returned to the state budget.
This involves major and routine repairs to state highways. After the outbreak of full-scale war, some of the sections for which the contractor demanded payment ended up in temporarily occupied territories or in the combat zone. As a result, the client was unable to verify the actual performance of the work, its scope, or its quality.
Despite this, in 2022, the company successfully sued the Zaporizhzhia Regional Road Service to recover the funds, after which the money was paid out of the state budget.
Prosecutors appealed the relevant court decisions and secured a retrial of the cases. In May–June 2026, the Central Commercial Court of Appeal upheld the prosecution’s position and ruled that the recovery of funds in favor of the contractor was unlawful.
The court also ordered the return to the budget of over 102 million hryvnias that the company had received without justification.
