A foreign instructor who worked for the FSB was sentenced to more than eight years in prison
Based on evidence from counterintelligence and SBU investigators, another FSB agent has been sentenced to a prison term. The individual in question is a former military instructor from a European country who, according to the investigation, was recruited by Russian intelligence agencies to work against Ukraine. The court sentenced him to 8.5 years in prison.
This was reported by the SBU press center.
As noted, SBU officers detained him in October 2025 at his temporary residence.
What information did he pass on to the enemy?
As the investigation established, the agent “leaked” information about the Ukrainian Defense Forces to the Russians and was preparing to carry out terrorist attacks.
According to the case materials, the foreign national possesses professional knowledge of firearms and tactical training. In early 2024, he arrived in our country to train mobilized personnel.
Details of collaboration with the enemy
However, he soon “quit” this job and began looking for “easy money” in pro-Kremlin online communities. There, an FSB officer contacted him and offered “quick side gigs” in exchange for cooperation.
After being recruited, the agent began passing information to the Russians about foreign instructors in the Defense Forces with whom he had previously communicated.
He also prepared a “report” for his handler containing the coordinates of Ukrainian Armed Forces training centers in southern Ukraine, where he had previously trained conscripts.
Preparation for Terrorist Attacks
Later, the foreign national received an order from the FSB to prepare a series of terrorist attacks. To this end, he received instructions from his handler in Russia on how to make a homemade bomb and the geolocation of a hideout, from which he retrieved a pistol with two loaded magazines.
Arrest and charges
- Having documented every move of the Russian agent, the SBU’s counterintelligence unit detained him while he was in the planning stages of the commissioned terrorist attacks.
- Based on evidence gathered by the Security Service, the perpetrator was found guilty under Part 3 of Article 114-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (unauthorized disclosure of information regarding the deployment of the Armed Forces of Ukraine or other military formations established in accordance with the laws of Ukraine, committed under martial law).
- Taking into account his cooperation with the investigation, the court sentenced him to eight and a half years in prison.
