The Cabinet of Ministers has approved payments in time for Independence Day

The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has approved one-time cash payments to be distributed on Independence Day to veterans, people with war-related disabilities, families of the fallen, and other specified categories of citizens. The amounts of assistance depend on status and range from 450 to 3,100 hryvnias, and all payments must be made by August 24, 2026. This is stated in a Cabinet of Ministers resolution.

The Ukrainian government has approved a decision on one-time financial support for citizens ahead of Independence Day, setting specific payment amounts for various categories of recipients, including war veterans, people with disabilities, families of fallen defenders, and other socially vulnerable groups.

The highest payment is set at 3,100 hryvnias—it will be received by individuals with special merits to the state and people with Group I war-related disabilities. Veterans with Group II disabilities will receive 2,900 hryvnias, and those with Group III disabilities will receive 2,700 hryvnias; these same amounts also apply to certain categories of former concentration camp and ghetto prisoners who became disabled due to general illness or work-related injuries.

Combatants, victims of the Revolution of Dignity, former juvenile prisoners of places of forced detention, as well as children born in the conditions where their parents were held, will each receive 1,000 hryvnias.

Payments of 650 hryvnias are provided for family members of deceased war veterans and defenders of Ukraine, as well as for the spouses of deceased persons with disabilities or combatants who have not remarried.

A minimum payment of 450 hryvnias is set for war veterans, former prisoners of concentration camps and ghettos, those forcibly deported for labor, as well as the children of partisans and underground fighters.

The document specifically emphasizes that all payments must be made by August 24, 2026—that is, by Ukraine’s Independence Day, when the state traditionally provides one-time financial support to certain categories of citizens.

The Cabinet of Ministers has approved a large-scale program of monetary compensation for housing for veterans and the families of fallen defenders. This amounts to over 5.6 billion hryvnias, which will go toward supporting those most in need of their own housing. In 2026, over two thousand Ukrainian families will receive assistance for purchasing housing.
