Traffic violation cameras in Ukraine have issued over 19 million citations totaling 4.1 billion hryvnia
The Ukrainian Patrol Police has summarized the results of the automated traffic violation detection system, which has been in operation in the country for six years.
This was reported by the Judicial and Legal Newspaper.
During this period, law enforcement officials issued over 19.1 million administrative violation notices. The total amount of fines paid by drivers since the project’s inception has already exceeded 4.1 billion hryvnias.
Currently, 376 monitoring devices are in operation in Ukraine, located exclusively in areas with a high concentration of traffic accidents resulting in serious consequences. Automatic enforcement cameras are currently operational in 32 cities and 18 regions of the country.
The systems are not installed only in regions where active hostilities are ongoing.
The system continues to actively expand and increase its capacity.
“Throughout 2025, 40 enforcement devices were connected to the automated enforcement system,” said Oleksiy Biloshitsky, First Deputy Head of the Patrol Police Department of Ukraine.
The official also noted that two systems in Lviv, which previously only recorded speeding violations, have begun to additionally monitor traffic violations and stops in the lane reserved for public transit vehicles.
The expansion of the safety network continued this year, as 37 new devices have already been added to the system.
Modern systems detect vehicles exceeding the established speed limits by more than 20 km/h.
In addition, the cameras detect vehicles illegally entering or stopping in lanes designated for public transportation.
Police emphasize that speeding remains one of the main causes of fatal accidents on Ukrainian roads.
In 2025, law enforcement recorded 10,599 such accidents, in which 1,718 people were killed and 12,980 sustained injuries of varying severity. The introduction of these cameras is intended to significantly reduce this tragic statistic.
For drivers’ convenience, the notification functionality in the state-run “Diya” app was significantly updated last year. Detailed photos and video recordings of the exact moment the violation occurred began to be added to automated traffic violation notices.
Previously, drivers received only text details indicating the type of violation, the exact time, and the geographic location of the incident.
