The Ministry of Defense plans to present a comprehensive military reform plan in June
The Ukrainian Ministry of Defense plans to hold an official presentation of a large-scale military reform in June.
This was reported by the Interfax-Ukraine news agency, citing the defense ministry’s press service.
The ministry clarified that as of June 1, no presentation of the updated concept for the development of the armed forces was planned, but its public unveiling is expected this month. According to preliminary data, the announced reform envisages a comprehensive transformation of the Defense Forces. It will include the introduction of a new system for concluding contracts, a review of salary levels, and the establishment of new, clear terms for military service.
In May 2026, the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine officially codified and approved for service in the Defense Forces 175 new models of weapons and military equipment (WME). The vast majority of these new items—nearly 93%—are the result of the work of Ukrainian designers and enterprises.
Prior to this, the Ministry of Defense had certified and approved for use in the Armed Forces of Ukraine the domestically produced “Volynyaka” unmanned aerial system.
