FSB hitman sentenced to 15 years for plotting to kill an official in Zaporizhzhia
A court sentenced an FSB agent who had been plotting to kill a city council official in Zaporizhzhia to 15 years in prison with confiscation of property.
This was reported by the SBU.
The suspect was detained in August 2024 while posing as an electrician and heading to the victim’s home.
According to the investigation, he is a repeat offender from Melitopol who was recruited by Russian special services while serving a previous sentence.
Before carrying out the mission, he underwent training at an FSB training center in the occupied territory.
He then arrived in Zaporizhzhia, rented an apartment, and began surveilling his intended victim.
He planned to kill the official with a hammer blow and flee through the EU to the occupied territory.
Law enforcement officers detained him before he could commit the crime, seizing evidence and equipment.
The court found him guilty of treason and plotting a contract killing.
