Kyivstar is phasing out its old account top-up service

Kyivstar is phasing out its old account top-up service

Kyivstar is gradually phasing out outdated services and will completely discontinue the "Mobile Payment" service—which was previously used to top up accounts via USSD and phone calls—effective July 1. The company explains this by noting that subscribers have long since switched to modern digital payment methods, and the old tools are no longer relevant.

The operator announced that the "Mobile Payment" service will no longer be supported. Along with it, the USSD code *134# and the voice menu at 899, which were previously used to top up balances, will cease to function.

The company emphasizes that the decision is linked to digitalization and changing user habits. Most subscribers have long since switched to mobile apps and online banking, so supporting the old channels has become less effective and more costly.

Kyivstar offers several alternative methods that it considers more convenient and faster. The most popular option is the official “My Kyivstar” app, where top-ups are commission-free.

Banking services are also available—Privat24, monobank, Oschad24/7, and other mobile banking apps, which have already become the standard for most Ukrainians. In addition, there are e-wallets, self-service terminals, and other payment services that operate both online and offline.

Despite changes in services, the “All In One” rate plan remains unchanged and continues to be flexible for different categories of subscribers. The basic “Light” package costs between 290 and 370 hryvnias per month and is suitable for daily internet and calling needs.

The more comprehensive “Cool Contract” plan costs between 350 and 450 hryvnias and is designed for active users and businesses. There is also a social plan for 220 hryvnias per month, available to people aged 60 and older and individuals with disabilities.

Kyivstar explains that technology has changed, and with it, user behavior. USSD services and voice menus have gradually lost popularity, as modern apps allow users to perform the same operations faster and more conveniently. Therefore, the company continues to optimize its infrastructure and is gradually phasing out tools that are no longer widely used. This was reported by Kyivstar.
