Klymenko Refuses to Head the Ministry of Defense — Zheleznyak
Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko is currently refusing to take the post of defense minister. At the same time, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy may hold another conversation with Mykhailo Fedorov to find a way out of the situation.
This was reported by People’s Deputy Yaroslav Zheleznyak, citing his own sources. According to the lawmaker, the Verkhovna Rada plans to appoint all members of the new government on July 16, with the exception of the heads of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Defense.
After that, as Zheleznyak noted, the “Servant of the People” faction will hold a separate meeting dedicated to the candidate for the position of defense minister.
“As of now, Klymenko is refusing to become defense minister. In other words, he may simply lose his position as Minister of Internal Affairs—and that’s it. Another conversation between Zelenskyy and Fedorov is also planned. Perhaps a solution to the situation will be found during this dialogue,” Zheleznyak said.
This was reported on July 16 by People’s Deputy Yaroslav Zheleznyak.
As a reminder, the Verkhovna Rada appointed Serhiy Koretsky as Prime Minister of Ukraine.
