Koretsky instructed the ambassadors to seek the confiscation of Russian assets
Ukrainian Prime Minister Serhiy Koretsky has tasked Ukrainian diplomats with stepping up efforts with international partners to confiscate frozen Russian assets.
The head of government noted that the process of transferring these funds to Ukraine will be complicated by legal obstacles, but Kyiv must begin building broad support among its allies now to secure such a decision.
According to Koretsky, one of the key tasks of Ukrainian diplomacy remains convincing partners of the need to use frozen Russian assets to compensate for the damage caused by the war. “The Russians must pay for what they have done,” the prime minister emphasized.
He noted that some countries are skeptical about the mechanism for confiscating such assets. That is precisely why Ukrainian diplomats must explain to partners that Ukraine does not seek to acquire Russian property for its own sake, but is seeking fair compensation for the destruction caused by Russian aggression.
Koretsky stressed that the issue of using frozen Russian assets must remain one of the priorities of Ukraine’s international efforts.

Prime Minister Koretsky ordered ministers to attend the Verkhovna Rada.
As a reminder, Koretskyi instructed officials to assess the regions’ readiness and is awaiting a report by the end of the week.
On July 28, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine dismissed Alona Shkrum from the position of First Deputy Minister of Community and Territorial Development of Ukraine. The government adopted the corresponding decision following her request to resign voluntarily.
