Koshta: Ukraine’s reconstruction is inextricably linked to its accession to the EU
European Council President António Costa stated that Ukraine’s reconstruction is closely linked to its European integration, and that the country’s future lies in the European Union.
He made these remarks during the opening of the Conference on Ukraine’s Recovery in Gdańsk.
Costa emphasized that Ukraine’s recovery involves not only addressing the consequences of the war but also building a modern, green, and digital economy. According to him, negotiations on Ukraine’s accession to the EU have already begun, and the European Union aims to open the remaining negotiation chapters as soon as possible.
The President of the European Council also announced that the EU recently approved a 90 billion euro loan program to support Ukraine, and the first tranche has already been disbursed.
Kozha emphasized that Ukraine has demonstrated its readiness for a diplomatic resolution to the war, while the EU will continue to intensify sanctions pressure on Russia. He also recalled the political decision to extend sectoral sanctions against Russia for one year.
