Attorney General Ruslan Kravchenko stated that being abroad does not exempt a person from liability for offenses committed. He made these remarks in response to the arrest in Bratislava of a former high-ranking official of the Ukrainian Football Federation who had been wanted by Ukrainian law enforcement.

“We will continue to bring back to Ukraine those who for years believed they could hide from the law abroad,” the Prosecutor General emphasized.

According to Ruslan Kravchenko, neither time, nor distance, nor residence in another country absolves one of responsibility for one’s actions.

“Neither time, nor distance, nor residence in another country, nor a new life can absolve one of responsibility for one’s actions,” he noted.

The Prosecutor General also emphasized that Ukrainian law enforcement agencies will continue to work on bringing back people who are hiding abroad from Ukrainian justice.

Kravchenko announced this in a post on July 24, 2026.

The day before, Ruslan Kravchenko spoke out about pressure being exerted on members of parliament ahead of the Verkhovna Rada’s vote on his dismissal from the post of Prosecutor General. He called on lawmakers to make their own decision, free from the influence of other government bodies.

As a reminder, the Rada supported Ruslan Kravchenko’s dismissal from the office of Prosecutor General.

Kravchenko presented tracking information for a mailed package containing evidence implicating Kryvonos.
