Kravchenko Declined Personal Security Following the Case Involving the NABU Director
Ruslan Kravchenko declined personal security after information regarding the suspicion against the NABU director was entered into the Unified Register of Pre-trial Investigations. At the same time, it is reported that Kravchenko left for Paris, allegedly on a business trip that he arranged himself.
Ruslan Kravchenko, who was dismissed from his position as Prosecutor General by a presidential decree on September 15, declined his personal state security detail approximately two hours after information regarding suspicions against NABU Director Semen Kryvonos was entered into the Unified Register of Pre-trial Investigations. This was reported on Wednesday, September 16, by “Ukrainska Pravda.”
“The Prosecutor General’s statement regarding his temporary waiver of personal state security is dated 1:00 a.m. on September 14—approximately two hours after information regarding the suspicion against the NABU director was entered into the Unified Register of Pre-trial Investigations,” the report states.
The publication speculates that by that point, Kravchenko may have already realized that he was leaving Ukraine not as part of a routine business trip, since with state security in place, it would have been much easier to determine the whereabouts of the then-Prosecutor General.
UP notes that rumors about Kravchenko’s possible departure abroad were circulating in the highest echelons of power several days before his departure.
The day before, Ruslan Kravchenko spoke out about pressure being exerted on members of parliament ahead of the Verkhovna Rada vote on his dismissal from the post of Prosecutor General.
As a reminder, the Rada supported the dismissal of Ruslan Kravchenko from the post of Prosecutor General.
Kravchenko presented tracking information for a mailed package containing evidence implicating Kryvonos.
