During the prisoner exchange, Lubinets spoke with prisoners from Ukraine and Russia
During yesterday’s prisoner exchange, Ukrainian Ombudsman Dmytro Lubinets and Russian Human Rights Commissioner Yana Lantratova spoke with prisoners from both sides. During the discussions, they addressed the conditions of detention for prisoners of war, the possibility of access for representatives of the International Committee of the Red Cross, as well as the provision of necessary medical care.
"During yesterday’s exchange, together with Russian Human Rights Commissioner Y. Lantratova, we personally spoke with prisoners of war from both sides. We discussed the most important issues: conditions of detention, visits to detention facilities by ICRC representatives, and access to medical care. Such conversations allow us to get a real picture of the situation," the post reads.
Lubinec noted that the Commissioner’s Office is incorporating all recorded information into its work to coordinate with international partners and document potential violations of international humanitarian law.
