Lviv Polytechnic University Topped the University Rankings Based on the Number of Applications Received

The 2026 college admissions campaign is underway in Ukraine. As of July 27, applicants had already submitted 805,822 applications to institutions of higher education, according to the Ministry of Education and Science.

Lviv Polytechnic National University has received the most applications so far—36,675. The top three also include Ivan Franko National University of Lviv (30,206 applications) and Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute (24,826).

The top ten most popular institutions also include Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv, Vasyl Stefanyk Carpathian National University, the State University of Trade and Economics, Yuriy Fedkovych Chernivtsi National University, the National University “Odessa Law Academy,” Vadym Hetman Kyiv National Economic University, and Lutsk National Technical University.

The largest number of applications was submitted to educational institutions in Kyiv—189,408. Next are Lviv Oblast (103,627), Odesa Oblast (68,675), Kharkiv (54,634), Vinnytsia (36,089), Dnipropetrovsk (35,439), and Ivano-Frankivsk (34,514).

The Ministry of Education and Science also noted that demand for higher education remains strong even in frontline regions. A total of 219,411 applications were submitted to educational institutions in regions with an elevated regional coefficient, accounting for 29% of the total. At the same time, the ministry emphasizes that these figures do not reflect the final number of prospective students, as a single applicant may submit applications to several universities at once.

Applicants were also reminded of an important rule: if an applicant arrives late at the testing center, they will not be allowed to take the NMT. Therefore, organizers urge applicants to arrive early so they can complete all necessary procedures without rushing before the test begins. This was reported by the Ukrainian Center for Educational Quality Assessment (UCEQA).

Participants in the main sessions of the National Multidisciplinary Test can now view their official results in their personal accounts.
