Medical personnel diagnosed six children with minor injuries following the collapse of a bridge in Bukovina
In the village of Vyzhenka, Vyzhnytsia District, Chernivtsi Oblast, a wooden suspension bridge collapsed while more than 30 children were on it.
As a result of the incident, six minors were injured and taken to a medical facility.
Law enforcement officials have already launched an investigation into the failure to properly fulfill duties regarding the protection of children’s lives and health.
Following the collapse, six students from a sports school, aged 8 to 15, were admitted to the Chernivtsi City Children’s Hospital.
The hospital’s director, Dmytro Bilous, reported that all patients who arrived were promptly examined by a panel of specialists, including a traumatologist, a neurosurgeon, and an otolaryngologist.
The medical staff performed the necessary diagnostics, treated open wounds, and provided the children with first aid.
According to the hospital director, there is no serious threat to the young athletes’ lives. All patients admitted were diagnosed with minor injuries that do not require prolonged inpatient treatment.
Immediately after the medical procedures were completed and the students’ conditions were stabilized, they were released home under their parents’ supervision.
According to the Main Directorate of the National Police in the Chernivtsi region, during a hiking trip, a group of students from a sports school in Kharkiv decided to hold a photo session on a suspension bridge over the Vyzhenka River.
The bridge’s structure could not withstand the simultaneous weight of more than 30 children, which led to its sudden collapse.
Police investigators entered the information into the Unified Register of Pre-trial Investigations under Part 1 of Article 137 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
