Ukraine's medical procurement agencies purchased goods worth 8.2 billion hryvnia
In the first eight months of 2026, the state-owned enterprise “Medical Procurement of Ukraine” purchased nearly 8.2 billion hryvnias worth of medical supplies. This represents 83% of the total procurement volume the enterprise had planned for this year.
The largest portion of the funds was allocated to medications and medical devices needed to treat patients. A significant portion of the purchases consisted of medications for people with cancer and cardiovascular diseases, as well as expensive innovative drugs. Specifically, 184 items worth 2 billion hryvnias were purchased for children and adults with cancer. Another 1.9 billion hryvnias was allocated to 32 items of innovative medicines procured through managed access agreements. This approach is used to ensure patients have access to modern medications.
UAH 1.1 billion was spent on medicines and medical devices for the treatment of cardiovascular diseases. A total of 105 items were purchased. A separate area of focus is supporting blood donation. To this end, 122 medical device items were purchased for 817.9 million UAH. The Ministry of Health also procured 29 drug items for children and adults with hemophilia. The cost of these purchases amounted to 541.7 million UAH. Thus, a significant portion of the funds was allocated specifically to medications and medical devices for patients with severe and chronic diseases.
A total of 813 items are planned for 2026
Throughout 2026, “Medical Procurements of Ukraine” is set to procure a total of 813 items of medicines and medical devices. This list also includes products purchased with funds from donors via the UNITED24 fundraising platform.
At the same time, the work of Medical Procurement of Ukraine is not limited to procurement alone. Over the past eight months, the agency has delivered 760 items of medicines and medical devices to the regions, which were purchased with state budget funds in 2026 and earlier. This means that the purchased goods are gradually reaching hospitals and other medical facilities in the regions.
Hospitals have purchased over 21 billion UAH through Prozorro Market
Separately, the Ministry of Health reported on the results of procurements through Prozorro Market. The agency has been administering the medical section of this electronic catalog since 2019. From January through August 2026, hospitals purchased nearly 21.1 billion hryvnias worth of medical supplies through Prozorro Market.
This is 30.2% more than during the same period in 2025. In other words, hospitals are using the electronic catalog much more actively this year to purchase necessary supplies. This involves thousands of purchases processed through a single electronic system.
Procurement savings totaled 3.1 billion hryvnia
Cost savings have become one of Prozorro Market’s key performance indicators. On average, over the first eight months of 2026, these savings amounted to 12.77% of the expected procurement cost. Overall, thanks to procurement through the electronic catalog, buyers saved 3.1 billion UAH. From January through August, 2,633 buyers used Prozorro Market to purchase medical supplies.
A total of 1,530 qualified suppliers submitted their offers to the catalog. This allows hospitals to select the necessary goods from a wide range of options. The Ministry of Health of Ukraine notes that the electronic catalog remains one of the main tools for procuring medical supplies. Its use allows hospitals to make purchases more quickly while saving budget funds.
Based on the results for the first eight months of 2026, we have two key figures: nearly 8.2 billion UAH—the value of goods directly purchased by “Medical Procurements of Ukraine”— and 21.1 billion hryvnia—the volume of medical purchases made by hospitals through Prozorro Market.
