The Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office has referred the case of a Ukrzaliznytsia official to court
On September 9, 2026, based on the findings of a pretrial investigation by the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU), a prosecutor with the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office (SAPO) filed an indictment with the court against the deputy director of the Environmental Safety Division of the Department of Traffic Safety, Occupational Safety, and Environmental Safety at JSC “Ukrzaliznytsia.”
The official is accused of extorting $100,000.
According to the indictment, he is accused of soliciting and receiving an unlawful benefit in exchange for facilitating the dismantling or relocation of railroad tracks.
It has been established that in late 2025, the deputy director of the Department of Environmental Safety within the Department of Traffic Safety, Occupational Safety and Environmental Safety at JSC “Ukrzaliznytsia,” made a request to a representative of a business entity specializing in granite mining and the production of crushed stone products, to provide an illegal benefit in the amount of $100,000 for the dismantling or relocation of railroad tracks that were hindering the company’s ability to carry out its business operations.
The official from JSC “Ukrzaliznytsia” was detained in April of this year after receiving $100,000 in an unlawful benefit.
It is reported that the individual’s actions have been classified under Part 4 of Article 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

Shila will stand trial in the case involving Ukrzaliznytsia’s back office.
As a reminder, People’s Deputy and Deputy Chair of the Verkhovna Rada’s Finance and Tax Committee Yaroslav Zheleznyak released an investigation in which he claims that Artem Shilo coordinated the preparation of the analytical “Mindich dossiers” at the Bureau of Economic Security (BEB).
In April 2024, the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office (SAPO) charged him in a case involving the embezzlement of funds during procurement for Ukrzaliznytsia; the case also involves several former SBU employees and entrepreneurs involved in government procurement.
