The Ministry of Finance has been instructed to expedite the sale of Sense Bank

Prime Minister Serhiy Koretskyi stated that the Ministry of Finance must expedite the sale of the state-owned Sense Bank. Before doing so, the Ministry of Finance, together with the National Bank, must resolve the issues that have arisen surrounding the financial institution.

Koretskyi made these remarks during a session of the Verkhovna Rada, commenting on the situation surrounding Sense Bank following the publication of materials by anti-corruption agencies. According to the prime minister, the government has already given the Ministry of Finance a clear directive not to delay the sale of the bank.

At the same time, the issues that have arisen regarding the financial institution must first be addressed. This is the responsibility of the Ministry of Finance and the National Bank. “Regarding Sense Bank, there is a clear directive for the Ministry of Finance to expedite the sale of the bank. Before that, the Ministry of Finance, together with the National Bank, must resolve all the accumulated issues,” Koretskyi stated. Thus, the government plans to move toward the privatization of Sense Bank, but the prime minister did not specify a concrete timeline for the sale.

What Will Happen to “Naftogaz”

During his speech, Koretsky also spoke about upcoming changes in Naftogaz’s leadership. According to him, the company’s new head is to be selected through a transparent competition. The prime minister believes it would be best to make the appointment after the heating season ends.

Koretsky explained this by the need to get through the current heating season smoothly and avoid creating additional risks for the company’s operations. “A transparent competition must be announced. Ideally, the new head should take office after the heating season so that we can get through the current period smoothly,” said the prime minister. Koretskyi made this statement during a session of the Verkhovna Rada.

People’s Deputy Danylo Getmantsev stated that the National Bank’s response to the violations uncovered at Sense Bank is appropriate, though, in his opinion, it came too late.

JSC “Sense Bank” appears in the “Forest Gump” case files as one of the channels through which funds were transferred in connection with the payment of a 150 million hryvnia bail bond for former Energy Minister Herman Halushchenko. This was reported on August 19 by MP Yaroslav Zheleznyak, who disclosed details from the investigation materials.

Danylo Getmantsev, chairman of the parliamentary committee on finance, tax, and customs policy, categorically denied any involvement in attempts to gain control
