Conscripts are falling ill with pneumonia en masse at training centers — Ombudsman
Training centers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine are reporting widespread cases of pneumonia among conscripts, while there is a critical shortage of medical personnel.
This was reported by Military Ombudsman Olga Kobylinska (Reshetilova).
According to her, the problem reached serious proportions in the winter—at one of the centers, hundreds of people were hospitalized with complications in just a short period.
During an inspection, it was found that a large training center had only three doctors, while other medical personnel had been assigned to military medical commissions. Because of this, doctors are physically unable to examine all the soldiers and are hospitalizing them only after they have developed severe complications.
Among the reasons cited for the outbreaks is that some of the mobilized personnel arrive at the centers already ill after spending time in unsuitable conditions at the TCCs. Additionally, the situation is exacerbated by the concentration of large numbers of people in enclosed spaces.
At the same time, training centers sometimes avoid hospitalization, as the highest number of cases of desertion occurs precisely from hospitals.
Inspections of medical care conditions are currently underway, particularly following the deaths of servicemen in the 425th Assault Regiment “Skelya.” The results are to be forwarded to the command.
As a reminder, a brazen attack on military personnel from the alert group occurred in Vinnytsia. A man stabbed two representatives of the TCC.
On March 31, an incident occurred between civilians and military personnel of the alert group in the village of Sosonka, Vinnytsia Oblast.
Earlier, the Odesa Regional Territorial Center for Recruitment and Social Support launched an official investigation into the use of weapons by a servicemember.
