Zelenskyy imposed sanctions against Lukashenko's sons
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has enacted a decision by the National Security and Defense Council to impose sanctions against 16 Belarusian citizens and 11 legal entities. The restrictions target individuals close to Alexander Lukashenko, as well as companies that supply the Russian military with ammunition and equipment.
This was reported by the Office of the President.
Among those sanctioned are Lukashenko’s close associate Viktor Sheiman and the sons of the self-proclaimed president, Viktor and Dmitry Lukashenko. They are accused of organizing schemes to evade international sanctions, establishing shadow businesses, and supplying dual-use goods for the needs of the Russian Federation. Viktor Sheiman is also known for his involvement in organizing “death squads,” for which he is already subject to U.S. and EU sanctions.
The sanctions target the Belarusian factories “Olsa,” “Termoplast,” and the Kovalsky Heavy Stamping Plant, which manufacture components for 122-mm and 152-mm artillery shells. In addition to ammunition manufacturers, the list includes companies that repair Russian aircraft and armored vehicles, as well as companies that test shells for the occupiers.
Earlier, it was reported that President Volodymyr Zelenskyy signed a new package of sanctions. Among other things, the restrictions apply to entities from Belarus.
Ukraine will increase pressure on Russia and its partners over the illegal export of grain from temporarily occupied territories and is preparing new sanctions.
