Dairy products in Ukraine could see price increases of 20–25% as early as this fall
The cost of dairy products in Ukraine may rise this fall. The reasons cited include supply disruptions and increased costs for production, processing, and logistics.
According to a forecast by the Association of Milk Producers, prices for dairy products could rise by 20–25%. At the same time, the price increase could lead to a further decline in consumption due to Ukrainians’ low purchasing power.
At the end of August, a kilogram of pasteurized milk cost an average of 50.55 UAH in a film pouch and 68.44 UAH in a plastic bottle. Kefir cost 59.44 and 80.53 UAH, respectively.
Certain product categories have also already become more expensive. Over the past year, milk in plastic wrap has risen by 11.2%, drinking yogurt by 14%, spoonable yogurt by 13%, and Gouda cheese by 9%.
A drop in butter prices at the beginning of fall is also not expected. Cheap offers are becoming fewer, and European prices are rising due to a decline in milk production.
