Carrot prices are falling again: how much does a kilogram cost in Ukraine?
In Ukraine this week, producers are selling carrots for 9–15 hryvnias per kilogram. On average, prices for the vegetable have fallen by 10% compared to the previous week.
It is noted that producers have been gradually lowering prices for carrots from the 2026 harvest for the past month and a half.
Industry experts attribute the drop in carrot prices to a rapid increase in supply exceeding market demand. At the same time, relatively subdued demand in this segment remains an additional factor putting pressure on prices.
“Currently, trading and purchasing activity in the Ukrainian carrot market remains low, as farmers need to sell fairly large volumes of medium-grade carrots that cannot be stored for long periods,” the publication states. — “According to producers, retail chains and wholesale companies are refusing to purchase large batches of carrots, citing slow retail sales. Under these conditions, farmers, seeking to speed up sales, are forced to constantly lower their selling prices for carrots.”
Currently, carrots in Ukraine cost an average of 32% more than during the same period in 2025.
At the same time, key market players do not rule out the possibility of further price declines if demand for carrots remains at current levels, according to EastFruit.
