The Ministry of Health has updated the list of safe beaches

The Ministry of Health has released new results from water quality tests conducted at Ukrainian beaches. In most regions, the water meets standards; however, swimming is not yet recommended in several cities due to noncompliance with sanitary standards.

The Ministry of Health has released the results of water quality tests conducted from June 11 to 17. Experts analyzed over a hundred samples taken within official beach areas and found that most bodies of water remain safe for recreation. At the same time, people are advised to refrain from swimming in several regions for now.

The Ministry of Health reported that out of 106 water samples collected, only five did not meet sanitary standards for microbiological indicators. This accounts for 4.7% of the total number of tests.

Where the Water Meets Standards

As of June 18, dozens of beaches in various regions of Ukraine have been deemed safe for swimming. In Kyiv, the water meets standards at the “Venice,” “Veselka,” “Molodizhny,” “Dityachyi,” “Zolotyi,” “Peredmistna Slobidka,” “Tsentralnyi,” “Chortoryi,” “Telbin,” as well as at the “Rainbow,” “Troieshchyna,” “Galernyi,” “Obolon Island,” “Verbnyi,” and “Pushcha-Vodytsia” beaches. At the same time, the beach season in the capital has not yet officially opened.

In the Kyiv region, the water was deemed safe at the “Chaika” children’s beach, the city beaches in Pereyaslav, and the “Central” beach in Bila Tserkva. In Volyn, the water meets safety standards in Lutsk, Kovel, Berestechko, the village of Zhorany, as well as at the beaches of the Shatsk community near Lake Svityaz and in the Hryada tract. In Dnipro, the “Sagaidak” beach, the “Prydniprovskyi” Park area, and the beach on Monastyrskyi Island remain safe.

In the Dnipropetrovsk region, beaches in Kamianske, Samara, Pavlohrad, Verkhnodniprovsk, Zhovti Vody, Zelenodolsk, and Kryvyi Rih received positive test results. However, the beach season has not officially opened in the region either. In the Zhytomyr region, the city beach in Zhytomyr’s Hydropark and the beach in Zvyagel on the Sluch River have been deemed safe.

In the Ivano-Frankivsk region, visitors can enjoy the beaches in Ivano-Frankivsk and Polianytsia. In the Kirovohrad region, water quality meets standards in Novoarkhanhelsk on the Sinyukha River. In the Lviv region, the beaches in Zolochiv, Morshyn, Peremyshlyany, Vereshchytsia, Honyatychi, Pidberiztsi, Korosne, and on Lake Zadorozhne have been deemed safe.

In the Mykolaiv region, water quality meets standards at the beaches in Pervomaisk, Pivdennoukrainsk, and Nova Odesa, as well as at the “Strilka” and “Chaika” beaches in Mykolaiv. However, by decision of the regional authorities, swimming in the region’s bodies of water remains prohibited.

In the Odesa region, the beaches “Vidrada,” “Luzanivka,” “Arkadia,” “Delfin,” as well as the beaches at the 10th, 13th, and 16th stations of Velykyi Fontan have been deemed safe for recreation. In Chornomorsk, “Tsentralnyi” Beach remains safe. Beaches in the Poltava, Rivne, Ternopil, Khmelnytskyi, Cherkasy, Chernivtsi, and Chernihiv regions also received positive results.

Where swimming is not yet recommended

Due to water quality failing to meet sanitary standards, the Ministry of Health recommends refraining from visiting several beaches for the time being. In Vinnytsia, swimming is not recommended at the “Khimik,” “Gonty,” and “Central” beaches. In the Zhytomyr region, the water at the city beach in Korosten has been deemed unsafe.

In Rivne, people are advised not to visit the beach at Lake Basiv Kut. In the Ternopil region, the beach in Khorostkiv near the Dubyna tract has been flagged. In addition, in the Zakarpattia, Odesa, and Sumy regions, no official river beaches have been registered at all.

The beach season will not open in four regions

Due to martial law and the security situation in 2026, recreational and health resorts will not open in the Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia, Kharkiv, and Kherson regions. The Ministry of Health urges Ukrainians to vacation only in designated areas and to monitor updates on water quality. The ministry notes that conditions may change after heavy rains or heat waves, so data is updated regularly. “You should only vacation at designated swimming areas and monitor updates on water quality,” the Ministry of Health emphasized.

Experts also advise against swimming in bodies of water that do not have official beach status, as the water there is not subject to regular testing. This was reported by the Ministry of Health of Ukraine.

Oleg Kipper, head of the Odesa Regional State Administration, announced the expansion of the list of safe recreational locations, bringing the total number of accessible beach areas in the region to 27.
